What do you do in the EED?

I’m a Graduate Research Associate working with Dr. Rachel Kajfez on the “Pathways” project. This project looks at the effect that first year engineering courses have on students who have taken different pathways to and through engineering school.

What drew you to Engineering Education at Ohio State?

My mentors in undergrad encouraged me to pursue graduate work, but the questions that I wanted to pursue, which were about women’s participation in the engineering field, didn’t really fit within a traditional engineering discipline. At the time that I graduated, I wasn’t aware that was a thing. Once I found out about engineering education graduate research, I knew that it was the field for me!

Favorite thing about working in the EED?

I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the other people who work in the EED and what they do. I’ve also really enjoyed all of the new kinds of research I’ve been exposed to.

What's a fun fact about yourself?

I do a lot of crafting in my spare time. I quilt, crochet, and cross stitch. In fact, a lot of the time, I’ll have a small project in my bookbag in case I have a few free minutes.
