FEH Research Showcase

All dates for this event occur in the past.

On the Ohio State campus on Tuesday, April 28th, the 12th Annual FEH Research Showcase will be held from 12:00 to 3:00pm in the Ohio Union Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom.  The showcase will feature the first-year FEH Nanotechnology design teams or Cell Entrapment and Novel Sensing Endeavors (CENSE) teams.  Each CENSE team has created a microfluidics “lab-on-a-chip” device to investigate the effects of various environmental factors on cell adhesion.  Cell attachment to structured surfaces plays an important role in orthopedic and vascular implants, as well as biosensors.  CENSE teams must also design a “lab-on-a-chip” device to detect disease from a blood sample and solve a real-world medical problem.  The device must be able to capture and detect a specific substance of interest from a collected blood sample.  This substance must be found in the blood and be a marker of a specific disease state (inflammation, heart disease, cancer, HIV, etc.).  The teams will be presenting the results of their work through poster displays at the showcase.
